You have gotten your destination picked out for your first trip. Now what? Where are you going to stay and how much is that going to cost?

Well I have just finalized where we are going and did a few internet searches for places close by to my destination.  At first I was thinking wow it would be cool to stay in some cabins so I did a quick search on places close by, put in my dates of stay and wow $272.00 per night for 4 people. PER NIGHT. Well what does that include? It has to include meals or something. Nope nothing included just a small cabin on site with restaurants near by. This is perfectly fine if you want to spend that much money, but we are doing it on a budget.  Back to the internet I go.

Oh yeah thats right I have a Hilton honors reward program app let me check out some nearby hotels.  Now your Hilton honors will give you points that you can apply to future stays and it will also let you apply points to your amazon account if you have one. Look at that there is a hotel close by, a suite that has 1 king bed and a separate room with a pull out couch, also has a full kitchen for a total $318.12. That is a savings $226.12 from the cabins, WOW that is an awesome deal. But the kids are older and the last time we stayed in a room like this the pull out couch was not very comfortable.

I’m going to search the internet on one of those sites you always see on TV. You know the ones like Trivago and Expedia.  Looks like Expedia is the winner for this trip a hotel room $56.00 a night, wait I can get 2 rooms for cheaper than the suite. This hotel must have horrible reviews, let me look.  No actually pretty good reviews.  After we stay there I will give you all my own review so until then cross your fingers.  So let me get this straight 2 rooms with 2 queen beds in each room for how much?  Your kidding right $251.62 wait and that includes a continental breakfast, sign me up.  Yes that is what you have to do, sign up for the Expedia app. and if you book it through Expedia you have a no fee cancellation all the way up until the day before check-in. So that will be a savings of $66.50.  But wait there is more, my Ebates popped up to get 10% back on this booking that is another savings of $25.00, so really this hotel stay for 2 rooms and 4 people will be $226.62.  So make sure you sign up for Ebates, which you can do right here  . Just from doing these few searches going all the way from a small cabin with nothing included to 2 rooms at a hotel with a continental breakfast included has a total savings of $317.38.

The Breakdown 

1. Cabin- $544.00 total for 2 nights nothing included
2. Hilton honors- $318.12 total for 2 nights for a suite nothing included but does have a full kitchen
3. Expedia app- 2 rooms $251.62 total for 2 nights includes continental breakfast
4. Expedia app and using Ebates- 2 rooms $226.62 total for 2 nights still includes continental breakfast
